Adjusting a rucksack correctly
Correct rucksack adjustment is one of the most important aspects of the purchase decision. If the rucksack is not adjusted properly then the client will never be able to assess the carrying characteristics of the rucksack correctly.
1) Bend the aluminium struts forward over the knee in an “s” shape (do not take struts out of the channels: danger of wrong positioning when replacing them!).
2) The centre of the hip strap should sit on the upper part of the hip bone.
3) Select a length adjustment for the carrying system so that the centre of the carrying strap is at the highest point of the shoulder (use the buckle: put in and tilt diagonally from the front, and remove again behind the back pad).
4) Adjust the shoulder strap release pull (30°-50° angle of inclination) so that there is an equilateral triangle. Closer: more control; further away: better ventilation
After packing correctly (with 7-15 kg), tighten the compression straps, to secure the load in the rucksack. Lock all the straps of the carrying system (shoulder straps, load control straps, hip strap, hip strap stabilisation straps).
1. Put on the rucksack.
2. Select a length adjustment for the carrying system so that the centre of the carrying strap is at the highest point of the shoulder (use the buckle: put in and tilt diagonally from the front, and remove again behind the back pad).
3. Pull the hip strap tight. The hip strap should cover the centre on the hipbone and surround it evenly.
4. Tighten the shoulder straps (not too tight). The starting point for the shoulder straps should be a hand’s width below the seventh cervical vertebra (protrudes most from the neck). If necessary adjust the height of the shoulder straps.
5. Close the chest strap. This prevents the shoulder straps sliding from the shoulders or putting pressure on the front of the shoulders.
6. Tighten the load control straps. In normal cases the shoulder straps should not lift from the crown of the shoulder. If bruising is caused by the back of the pack, then the shape of the back should be adjusted by a specialist dealer.
